Led us flying from familiar things
The weary beating of our heavy wings

We shivered as the chilling winds advanced
Reconciliation seemed in vain
So we left behind the freezing plain

For a place we couldn't know
For a novel life
We set upon the night

The horizon was a boundary
That we found receded as we neared
Soon, unfamiliar sights appeared

Prairie grass gave way to brush and sand
As we cowered from the burning rays
Thirst and desperation ruled the day

We were rescued by the fragrant bloom
Of the cactus who presided there
Could the plant have known we'd pass her way?

And we found to our surprise
That the cactus moon would rise
Lighting the way

Above the dunes
Patient eyes attune
Glowing cactus moon
